The Syrian Civil War is one of the most discussed wars in the world today. Most recently, the United States has removed chemical weapons from Syria's president, Bashar al-Assad. al-Assad's use of chemical weapons breaches Article 6 of the Geneva Convention of 1864, which states that no civilians who are neutral to the war shall be harmed. Because the use of these chemical weapons breached the Geneva Conventions, other countries have full right to confiscate and destroy the weapons.
This shows that the Geneva Convention of 1864 is still relevant and being used even today, 150 years after its creation.
