Formation of the Geneva Conventions and the Geneva Committee
Dunant arranged an unofficial meeting of the agreeing nations in Geneva, Switzerland in 1864. This convention would mandate proper treatment of soldiers. Along with Dunant was the Geneva Committee, a group of fellow Genevans who wanted to help create more rights for soldiers, and in turn more responsibilities for their captors. Their names were Gustave Moynier, Guillaume-Henri Dufour, Louis Appia, and Théodore Maunoir. They were essential in the creation of the Geneva Convention of 1864.
